Means of escape

I read this book after I read Caputos other book, which you can find in the Vietnam section. Its about Caputos expieriences in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Beirut. The book begins with his childhood and covers his live as a journalist. He was kidnapped bey Islamic extremists and escaped. He was wounded by a sniper and joined the Mujahideen and was nearly captured by sovjet forces. A great book.

Not read yet. Recommended by a visitor. It has been compared with "Dispatches". That sounds good.

Der Tod im Reisfeld

Ein absolut spannendes und informatives Buch. Immer wieder eindrucksvoll ist Scholl-Latours Detailwissen über die vielschichtigen Hintergründe für die Kriege in Indochina. Trotzdem bewahrt er einen Blick für die Schönheit der Natur und der verschiedenen Kulturen dort. Sehr interessant ist auch seine Gefangennahme durch den Vietcong und die Zeit nach dem amerikanischen Engagement in Vietnam.
